Bird Houses-Birds
Bird seed is obviously one way to attract birds to your yard. Certain types of shrubs, plants and trees are important factors as well. You must take a look at your surroundings to see exactly the type of things the birds might be having difficulties finding, for example, water, food and security from predators. Your goal is going to be creating an inviting habitat. Lets start off with the types of food birds need to survive all fours seasons of the year. Birds are not much different than humans when it comes to food they need variety of foods and they have there favorites. And different species require different types of foods. You can click on any one of my bird categories and it will give you the food types and bird house specifications and dimension requirements for each bird type.
Keep predators at bay
Birds need a secure sanctuary free from predators such as raccoons, cats, squirrels, snakes, etc. Use metal foilers to rap around the trees to prevent predators from climbing the trees. To keep squirrels at bay can be frustrating, you’ll need to set up a feeder for the squirrels that can be easily accessed. For squirrels I recommend that you use multiple foilers to frustrate the squirrels.
Building tips and pointers
When you decide to build your bird house you’ll need to remember it’ll need to be built to with stand the elements. We have many new type of wood products and sealers that can help to with stand the outside conditions for many years.Such wood products as Cedar and Redwood. You’ll have a variety a sealants to choose from.I don’t have a specific preference in sealers so I would recommend just going with a sealer that your familiar with using.
Wood products
For the wood products I suggest Redwood, Cedar or Cypress.Pressure treated would can also be used outside.
Glue, fasteners, hardware
I prefer to use Dacrotized screws for holding all exterior products together. This type coating won’t chip or flake and cause black decaying marks. When using Dacrotized screws use them to the minimum, the reason I say this is the wood glue will hold together for many years.I prefer Elmer’s wood glue,it holds strong and works as a protection of silicone at the same time.
At the bottom of every page I have a set of dimensional plans in writing and a visual drawing to make sure you’ll be able to understand the dimensional requirements. Each bird species has it’s own set of living dimensions. So I have gathered very important information and detailed blue print requirements of these different bird species. When you decide to buy or build a bird house you’ll have to remember to buy or build according to these bird specific house dimensions. When we buy or build a bird house we want birds to nest in the houses we have provided for them. So you are off to a good start.
